I notice I can write considerably well when I write about issues concerning God... Hmm.. Perhaps it is really God working through me.. In the natural, I am only a singlish expert... but when I write about things related to God... He blesses with better english =)
Just had this revelation a couple of hours ago... While walking home from the library.... I believe that our relationship with God.. Like any other relationship on earth... should be an emotional thing.. Of course, love in its essence should not be entirely emotional.. you need solid grounding...
For example.. you need to know why you love a person.. so that even when the feeling fades.. you will still endeavour to go through the same motions to preserve the relationship.. It is impossible to emotionally love the person 100% of the time...
Consider the following question:
Describe the taste of this cake. Just by looking at it. Don't eat it. Use your eyes to discern it's taste and describe it as well as you can.
It seems like a completely illogical question. How can the eyes determine taste? Just like how can you endeavour to use the brain to describe what the heart feels? The brain is for thinking.. for converting thoughts into words... but the heart is for feeling.. much like the eyes are for seeing and the ears for hearing.. Each of our organs are built for their own specialised purpose... And should not have to take part in the jobs of other organs...
So perhaps when it comes to love... Whether it is love for God or for man, it is wiser to just accept the fact that sometimes love cannot be described.. it is a completely heart-felt thing that when attempted to be encapsulated in words become as silly as trying to describe the taste of a cake simply by describing its appearances...
Similarly when attempting to understand God's purpose for you.. Not everything needs to be stated black and white... Much of what God wants to communicate can be seen all around you... In the grass.. in the birds.. in the stars and even in the air you breathe... So... Try not to underplay the importance of nature as God's means of communication with us... Be constantly aware that everything you see is part of his creation...
